Ted Lasso in Richmond

Richmond, in south-west London, is where AFC Richmond’s town scenes were filmed, and the walks cover the pub, the green and the houses of the main characters. The Crown & Anchor is really the Prince’s Head at 28 The Green — only its exterior appears on screen, with interiors filmed in a studio, but it’s a real pub and you can go in for a drink. The stadium shots of Nelson Road were filmed at Selhurst Park, Crystal Palace’s ground in south London, not in Richmond.

The £26 walk is the obvious choice: big review count, high rating, two and a half hours. Pay more for the very small group if you want to ask a lot of questions, or the private cab if you have limited mobility or want to see the training ground too.

Sherlock Holmes: Baker Street and beyond

Sherlock fans have the cheapest DIY day in the category. The Sherlock Holmes Museum at 221b Baker Street opens daily, 9:30–18:00 (last entry 17:30), with tickets at £19 for adults and £14 for under-16s. The Sherlock Holmes pub on Northumberland Street, near Charing Cross, has a replica of the 221b sitting room behind glass upstairs, built from material saved from the 1951 Festival of Britain. The black cab tour links these with film locations from the Basil Rathbone and Robert Downey Jr. films — the better choice if you want the screen history explained. Brit Movie Tours also lists a Sherlock Holmes walk.

James Bond and spy London

The Bond cab is the most expensive and least loved tour here: 4.4★ from 36 reviews, about £499 per cab. It covers filming locations and spy history in a black taxi over four hours. Unless you’re a committed fan travelling as a group, the private black cab tours page lists better-rated cabs for the same money.

Walk or cab: the per-head maths

A Ted Lasso walk at about £26 is a bargain for one or two people. Cabs only make sense shared: a £499 Sherlock or Bond cab for five people is about £100 each, still roughly four times the walk — so book the cab for the comfort, the hotel pick-up and the number of locations, not to save money. For a family, the private Ted Lasso cab at about £399 is the cheapest private screen tour here.

Planning a Ted Lasso day in Richmond

Make a day of it. Do the walk in the morning, eat on or near Richmond Green, and finish at the Prince’s Head. The very small group walk takes in Ted’s and Rebecca’s homes; the private cab goes inside the pub and to the original training ground. If you’re a football fan as well, Selhurst Park, the real Nelson Road, is a separate trip across south London.
