What is Bustronome London?
Bustronome London is a restaurant on a bus: a modern double-decker with a fully glazed roof, 38 seats all on the upper deck, and four to six courses served at your table while it drives past the city’s landmarks. The brand also runs in Paris, New York and Dubai. In London it sells three sittings — lunch, afternoon tea and dinner — all from Coach Bay 40B on Victoria Embankment.
Each party gets its own table by a window, so you won’t share with strangers. There’s a toilet on board, commentary through an app rather than a guide, and a musical soundtrack. You stay on the bus throughout.

The route and the food
The loop takes in the Tower of London and Tower Bridge, the Shard, Shakespeare’s Globe, St Paul’s, the Royal Courts of Justice, the London Eye, Westminster and the Abbey, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, Hyde Park Corner, the Royal Albert Hall, the South Kensington museums and Harrods. At dinner most of that is floodlit, which is why dinner is the version to book if you only do it once.
Menus change with the seasons. The current one runs from scallops and truffle arancini through sea bass or chicken to cheese and a panna cotta. Bustronome says it can handle many allergies and dietary requirements if you tell it in advance, with more limitations at afternoon tea. Extra alcoholic drinks can be ordered on board by over-18s — only while the bus is stationary — under a Challenge 25 policy.
Lunch, tea or dinner?
Dinner is the version most people picture: 2 hours 45 minutes, six courses, and London’s landmarks floodlit through the glass roof. It’s the one to book for a special occasion. Lunch costs £40 less per person direct, takes an hour less, and suits families or anyone who wants to see the route in daylight. Afternoon tea is the cheapest at £75 and the same length as lunch, but it’s newer on the platforms and Bustronome warns that it has more limits on dietary requirements. If you can only fit in one, choose dinner in the darker months, when the floodlights do the work, and consider lunch in midsummer, when evenings stay light late.
Booking and cancellation
Booking direct, you pay up front and can cancel or modify up to 72 hours before, subject to availability; the FAQ also mentions a change fee of £25 per person at lunch and £50 at dinner. Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months. Through GetYourGuide, the lunch listing offers free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead — the more flexible option if your plans might change. We earn a commission on bookings through GetYourGuide and Headout links on this page; we have no commercial relationship with Bustronome itself.
Pros and cons
Pros
- A real restaurant meal, not a snack box, with tables for your party only.
- Glass roof: it works in rain and in winter, when open-top tours don’t.
- Strong platform ratings — 4.6★ for lunch and 4.7★ for dinner from 640+ reviews combined.
- Toilet on board; children and babies welcome.
Cons
- Expensive: dinner for two is £240 before drinks, direct.
- App commentary only, and no getting off for photos.
- Seven steps to the dining deck limit access for wheelchair users.
- Long: 2 hours 45 minutes in traffic is a big chunk of an evening.
Verdict: 4.2 / 5
Bustronome does what it promises — good food, a comfortable seat and the best of London through the glass — and its ratings on both platforms are consistently high. It loses marks on price and on sightseeing depth: you’re paying restaurant prices for a view, not for a guide. Book dinner for a celebration or a wet winter evening; book lunch through a platform if you want to keep the option to cancel.
Alternatives
- Cheaper, more playful: a Routemaster afternoon tea bus from about £45–£59.
- Dinner with a different view: a Thames dinner cruise.
- Sights without the meal: a live-guided night tour from about £23.
- Food as the main event, on foot: our London food tours.
