Warner Bros Studio Tour London — coach package or the train?

The Studio Tour ticket is £58.50 for an adult; coach packages from central London start at about £90. The train from Euston plus the free shuttle is cheaper and quicker — the package buys you a door-to-door coach seat and one less thing to plan.

Warner Bros Studio Tour London: package or DIY?

The Warner Bros Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter is at Leavesden, just over 20 miles north-west of central London. It’s a self-guided walk through the real sets, props and costumes — the Great Hall, Diagon Alley, the Hogwarts Express — and the Studio puts the average visit at about three and a half hours.

There are two ways to get there. You can buy a package: entry ticket plus a return coach from central London, sold by the Studio’s partner Golden Tours and resold on GetYourGuide and Headout. Or you can buy the ticket direct and take the train from Euston to Watford Junction, then the Studio’s own shuttle bus, which is included in your ticket.

Package prices are the “from” prices in our partner feed today. Peak-time train fares are higher — £11.10 each way by contactless on a weekday peak, against £7.20 off-peak — so DIY costs between about £73 and £81 per adult.

Which Studio Tour package is best?

The packages are more alike than their titles suggest — nearly all are a timed ticket plus a coach seat — so the decision comes down to where the coach leaves from, how long you get inside and the cancellation terms.

Golden Tours’ own site lists its coach package from £95.50 and departs from Victoria, Baker Street or King’s Cross, with a Harry Potter film shown on the way. On Headout, the coach-transfer package lets you choose from Victoria, King’s Cross, Baker Street, the British Museum, Paddington or Marble Arch, and offers free cancellation up to 15 days before — worth knowing, because the Studio’s own tickets are non-refundable.

When to book the Studio Tour

As soon as your dates are fixed. The Studio caps visitor numbers, sells only online and says it doesn’t hold any tickets back for the day or for phone bookings. Tickets are currently on sale up to 31 December 2027, and each one is for a 30-minute entry slot — you can arrive at any point within it.

If the official site shows your date sold out, two things are worth trying. Check again over the following days, because tickets reappear when other visitors move or cancel. And check the packages above — it costs nothing to see whether one still has space on your date, even if it means paying £30-odd more than the ticket.

Coach, train or private car?

  • Train if you’re two adults, happy to navigate and want unlimited time inside. It’s the cheapest and quickest way.
  • Coach package if you’re staying near Victoria, Baker Street or King’s Cross, don’t want to think about connections, or need a date the direct site no longer has.
  • Private transfer if you’re a family of four or more, travelling with a pushchair or have limited mobility — compare options on our private Harry Potter page.
  • Oxford combo only if you’ve got one day for both and don’t mind a very long one; otherwise Oxford is an easy day trip by train on its own, or see our Oxford and Cambridge tours.

Driving? Parking at the Studio is free with your booking confirmation, and Priority Parking next to the entrance is £10 if you buy it online with your tickets.

The Studio Tour is the sets; the city is the other half of the story. Our Harry Potter walking tours page covers the London filming locations — Leadenhall Market, the Millennium Bridge and Platform 9¾ — from about £15 a head.

Questions people ask

How much are Warner Bros Studio Tour London tickets?
Booked direct on the official site, an adult ticket (16+) is £58.50, a child (5–15) is £47 and a family ticket is £188; under-4s go free and essential companions get a free ticket. Tickets are non-refundable, though the Studio will move your date for a £10 administration fee before your visit. Packages with transport on GetYourGuide and Headout start at about £90 per person.
Can you buy Studio Tour tickets on the day?
No. Visitor numbers are capped and the Studio says it doesn’t hold back tickets for sale on the day or over the phone — everything is booked online in advance, for a 30-minute entry slot. Once a slot sells out no one can be added, although tickets sometimes reappear when other visitors change or cancel. Tickets are currently on sale up to 31 December 2027.
How do you get to the Harry Potter studio from London by train?
Take a train from London Euston to Watford Junction — about 20 minutes on a direct service — then the Studio’s electric shuttle bus, about 15 minutes. The shuttle is included in your entry ticket and runs at least every 30 minutes from 9.20am (from 8.15am when the first tour is at 9am); the last one leaves when the tour closes. Oyster and contactless are valid on the train.
Is a coach package worth it over the train?
Mostly for convenience. A coach package costs about £17 more per adult than ticket plus train, and the coach takes 1–1.5 hours each way against roughly 35 minutes by train and shuttle from Euston. It’s worth it if you’re staying near a pick-up point, travelling with kids who’d rather sit still, or the direct site is sold out for your date and a package isn’t.
How long do you need at the Studio Tour?
The Studio says the average visit lasts about three and a half hours, and there’s no time limit inside. Coach packages typically give you around four hours on site, and the whole day with travel is about seven hours. Going by train lets you stay as long as you like, up to closing.
Is the Studio Tour and Oxford combo worth it?
It’s an 11-hour-plus day — a guided walk in Oxford, then the Studio in the afternoon — at about £152 per person on either GetYourGuide or Headout. It suits fans with one free day who want to see the colleges that appear in the films. If you’d rather not rush either, do Oxford on its own by train another day; see our Oxford and Cambridge tours page.
